End of Lent:
Lent at Saint Leo Abbey, the period of penance and preparation for Easter, ends before the 7:00 pm Mass on Holy Thursday. The Easter Triduum begins with that Mass.
Triduum is Latin for "three days" - any three days. And in the past it was more common (throughout the Church) to celebrate a triduum also before other feasts such as the Ascension and Pentecost. The Church has also had triduums in honor of the Holy Trinity and the Holy Eucharist.
The Mass on Holy Thursday is the oldest of the Holy Week practices. Its significance comes in part from the fact that it was on Holy Thursday that Jesus instituted the Eucharist and established the priestly ministry. Good reasons to end Lent in joyful hope.

I was wondering if you know why the shrines at the Grotto have their gates closed and locked?
