Oblate Retreat 2011

Abbot Isaac leads conference on the 1993 lectio divina article
by Bernardo Olivera.

The handout for the conference on the contemplative life was based on this classic
article from the Catholic Encyclopedia (1917)

The St. Leo Abbey Oblate Chapter's annual retreat was September 30 to October 2, 2011. The topics included:
1. The absurdity of our Faith
2. Revelation
3. The contemplative life
4. Lectio divina
5. History of Saint Leo Abbey and Benedictines in the United States
The weather was perfect, the first cool weather of the season. Between conferences, everyone was out on the Lake Room's balcony overlooking Lake Jovita.

During the history conference by Brother Prior Stanislaw, we learned that this
view was originally the main entrance to the abbey.  Palm trees lined a
center walkway and in the middle was a statute of Saint Benedict.
